Doctors hope, this baby's case will help them find a cure for other HIV-positive patients.

The patient is infected from his mother during pregnancy. The woman herself didn't know she was HIV positive until she was about to give birth. Therefore, the mother has no chance of being looked after so that the virus does not pass to the fetus. After birth, the girl was taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Within 30 hours of birth, the baby was treated with a mixture of three anti-AIDS drugs in the hope of controlling the virus.

Typically, young children suspected of being infected with HIV will undergo a gentle treatment process until the confirmatory tests are infected. This girl was treated according to that regimen for 18 months before stopping. Some time later, the baby was taken back to the medical center to check and the results showed no signs of virus in the blood.

The positive changes of the baby are closely monitored afterwards. From the time it was announced that the virus did not appear until last week, the baby had stopped drug treatment for 27 months. During this time, all tests showed no signs of the virus.

The Mississippi baby's case has raised the hope that about 250,000 babies born each year are infected with a virus that weakens the immune system. However, Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said the hope was shattered when the HIV virus was starting to return to the patient's blood. The result made health care workers look after girls, many experts on HIV / AIDS research and her own disappointment.

Dr. Fauci added that she is being treated with anti-HIV drugs and the situation is going well. From this case, researchers are turning to find out why and how the HIV virus does not appear in the baby's blood.
