All humans weighing how many kg?

If the whole humanity stands on the scale, the total weight will be 316 million tons, a study said.

Overweight people around the world weigh more than 16 million tons, equivalent to 242 million people with normal weight. Obese people weigh 3.8 million tons, or 56 million ordinary people.

'Not only does the new population threaten the sustainability of the global environment, our research also shows that people's weight is a major threat ,' said Ian Roberts, a researcher at the Epidemiology School. and London Tropical Medicine said.

Japanese people have a low body mass index but have a high standard of living.

The energy level required for any species depends not only on the number of individuals in the entire population, but also on the total weight: the greater the weight of the human being, the more energy the person consumes.

Roberts and colleagues used the 2005 world population data in this study. They also collected data on body mass index (BMI) of people in each country, then calculated the proportion of the population who were overweight and obese.

The global BMI is 62kg. North America is home to the highest average body mass index: 80.7kg.

North America accounts for only 6% of the world's population, but accounts for 34% of the world's obese population. In contrast, Asia accounts for 61% of the world's population, but only accounts for 13% of the world's obese population.

If every country has a BMI like in the US, the total weight of the world will increase by 63 million tons, equivalent to the weight of 473 million ordinary people.
