America uses a balloon to search for an explosive meteorite

A group of American scientists yesterday used an airship to find meteorites that fell in the state of California last month.

On April 22, people in two US states, Nevada and California, heard a loud bang. Many people claim they see a fireball in the sky. Next, some astronomers confirmed the explosion caused by meteorites.

After the explosion, in the past 2 weeks, many people flocked to the foot of Sierra Nevada to find meteorite fragments. Most of them only picked up the largest, small cosmic stones weighing only 19 grams.

Researchers from the US Aeronautics Agency (NASA) and the Extraterrestrial Civilization Center (SETI) in the state of California are looking for larger meteorites, by giving the Eureka balloon, the Sensors and cameras, take off from Sacramento Airport.

From the balloon, scientists will determine where the large meteorite may fall. After seeing the meteorite traces, they would continue searching on the ground.

"Only a few small fragments have been discovered. I believe there will be bigger fragments. We hope to find more meteorites from this trip," AP quoted astronomer Peter Jenniskens as saying. before the trip

As soon as the meteorite fell into the earth's atmosphere with a loud bang, Peter Jennishens organized a research team and found a 4-gram meteorite in the parking lot in the park.

Many experts say meteorites falling into the US last month are about the same size as small trucks and date from 4 to 5 billion years.

NASA estimates meteorites of this size can generate energy equivalent to a third of the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima, Japan during World War II.

On average each year a large meteorite hits the globe, most of them fall into the ocean or wilderness areas.
