Ancient people are also hungry to show off

Chinese archaeologists have unearthed a tomb of the Nam Han Dynasty in Guangzhou. In addition to architecture and beautiful artifacts, a geography sheet was discovered clearly stating the content of the grave purchase with 99999 999 coins of 9 coins. Is it true that the ancient people also prevailed to buy graves to show off their prestige?

It is known that this archaeological excavation has excavated 200 graves in the Western Han dynasties of South Viet Quoc, Dong Tan, Nam Trieu, Ngu Dai Nam Han, Tong Trieu and Minh Trieu. The graves are 10m long, divided into the passageways and the preceding spaces. Every structure in the grave is quite intact and beautifully carved.

Particularly M170 tomb belongs to Nam Han's life and excavated ancient texts with contents of buying and selling graves at a very specific price. Geography is an ancient text used for the dead, as a certificate of the soul possessing a piece of land in the underworld.

The 99,999 figures of 999 cents and 9 coins are actually just a symbolic number to prove that this grave is owned. The owner was identified as being from a feudal middle-class family, buried in 960, the third year of Nam Han.

The Nam Han Dynasty lasted only for 64 years, therefore, this contract was assessed as a new discovery promising to bring more meaningful information to archaeologists about the customs of the ancients.

'The architecture and the remaining antiquities have shown that grave owners are definitely in a high position in a feudal society and have a lot of money,' said archaeologist Ma Kien Quoc.
