Appears a red streak of 1.5km close to Quang Binh coast

Red water streak appeared at 8 am 4/5 accompanied by scattered dead fish phenomenon ashore. At the end of the afternoon, the stain was still darker.

In the morning of 4/5, people in Nhan Trach commune (Bo Trach, Quang Binh) discovered red brick streaks about 1.5 km long running through the coast of 5 villages, 10 meters wide and close to the water's edge. According to Mr. Phan Thanh Hien, Chairman of Nhan Trach Commune, the streak of water appeared at 8 am, but near the end of the afternoon it was still lighter.

Mr. Hien said, along with an unusual red streak of water , at the coast appeared a number of dead sea fish washed in, Mr. Hien said.

Receiving the news, the Department of Environmental Protection (Quang Binh Department of Natural Resources and Environment) sent people to take many samples of water to send to the General Department of Environment for testing. Quang Binh Department of Natural Resources also recommends that people do not swim or use sea water for other activities until the cause is determined and the official results are reported.

Local and foreign experts from the General Department of Environment from Ha Tinh came to the area where the unusual water stains appeared to check. Photos of the unusual strip of water in Quang Binh were sent to Nha Trang Oceanographic Institute. On the same day, the Institute of Oceanography sent officers directly to Quang Binh to collect samples to find the cause.
