Blood sucking creatures kill more than 200 birds

A mysterious blood-sucking animal caused the death of more than 200 chickens and ducks in a Chinese village, with the only identifiable clue being the 4-finger footprint by a 5-year-old child's hand.

The South China Morning Post reported on February 29 that the carnivorous beast left large bites on the dead carcass but did not eat meat. Instead, it drains the prey's blood. The attacks occurred in the past few weeks. People have put many iron cages with decoys that are alive but unsuccessful.

Police and people in Pudong, near Shanghai, China are hunting carnivores after the attack and sending night patrol cars to protect poultry.

The villagers claimed that the creature came from the Shanghai Wildlife Park two kilometers away, but the authorities confirmed that none of the animals have been lost or broken. In addition to the footprints of the beast left on the mud, the only detail that showed its size was a big hole of a ball on the barbed wire fence.

Based on the larger bite of the dog, the locals have other speculations about animal identification. However, according to the leader of the Pudong Forestry Station, footprints and bites indicate that the carnivorous beast can be an American panda or badger.
