China: Found an 800-year-old gold necklace in a wreck

Two gold necklace was discovered with thousands of other antiques from the Song Dynasty.

2 gold necklace discovered on a shipwreck for more than 800 years has been displayed at the Guangdong Provincial Museum (China) recently. Especially, despite being buried in the seabed for more than eight decades, two rings were preserved so well that it looked like 'it was made yesterday'.

The ship, called Nanhai I, was discovered by Chinese and British expedition off Guangdong Province in 1987. It took two decades later that the new ship was successfully salvaged.

This is considered the oldest and largest Chinese shipwreck ever discovered. The ship used to follow the 'Silk Road' route to the Indian Ocean for trade.

Researchers have discovered thousands of antiquities from the Song Dynasty in the ship, including 100 tons of iron objects, 13,000 pieces of ceramics, and 17,000 copper coins. In addition, there are many other valuable antiques such as gold bracelets and rings.
