According to the design, on a journey, Margrethe Maersk can carry up to 18,270 containers.

During his first trip in 2013, Margrethe Maersk came from the port of Algeciras, Spain to the port of Tanjung Pelepas, Malaysia. In that time it brought 17603 containers, the most in the world counted until the present time.

But more surprisingly, that number reached 96% of Margrethe Maersk's transport capacity. By design, it can carry up to 18,270 containers in one journey.

Although owned by Maersk Line, Margrethe Maersk is built, assembled and launched in Deawoo Group's factory. It was designed with a length of 399m, a width of 59m, with a capacity of 18,270 TEU.

However, Margrethe saved nearly 50% of fuel compared to "predecessor" , thereby, a significant reduction in expenses for the company.
