Developing stem cell technology in Hoa Lac High-Tech Park

In the High-Tech Park (CNC), Hoa Lac has just held a ceremony to sign a series of agreements on stem cell research.

The Hoa Lac High-Tech Park (CNC) representative and the Central Obstetrics Hospital (Ministry of Health) signed a memorandum of understanding to develop stem cell technology on August 3 in Hanoi. Along with that is the signing ceremony of cooperation agreement between the embryo technology department, the Institute of Biotechnology (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology), Biological Nanotechnology Center (French Republic) and the Center for High-tech Business Incubation (HHTP).

It is expected that by 2020, Hoa Lac Stem Cell Center will have intensive research activities on differentiation studies, production of cell lines for research and treatment. Currently, Hanoi University of Technology also plans to develop more stem cell departments to welcome human resources for this high-tech field.

Dr. Tran Viet Tien, Deputy Minister of Health, Director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, said that every year, Vietnam bleeds foreign currency tens of millions of dollars to go abroad to treat diseases with stem cell technology, thus developing. This technology will solve many problems such as socio-economy.

However, the leaders of the Ministry of Science and Technology as well as the Ministry of Health agreed, there should be a national-level project to be able to develop stem cell technology.
