Discovered strange squid species that can see through and look like alien creatures

Deep in the Gulf of Alaska, the explorers have just captured the image of an extremely visually penetrating squid at depths of up to 527 meters.

According to the scientists' description, looking at the head of the squid, the bizarre creature looks more like a bird.

Cranchiidae is the name of the strange squid. It is a species of squid belonging to the small glass squid family , it is also known by other names as parrot squid . Deep sea parrot squid can also glow with color or red spots.

When its tentacle is folded over its head, the parrot squid is thought to be in a bird-like pose.

The strange parrot squid discovered in the ROV expedition program is part of Seamounts 2019 expedition . The ROV mission not only collects samples of creatures such as parrot but also observes them in the natural environment.

The findings from this study hope to help scientists better understand the diversity of undiscovered marine life on the brink of unprecedented climate change.

However, even after collecting information about all the bizarre deep-sea animals, such as jellyfish and octopus, the parrot is still more prominent.

In a blog post after the expedition, ROV general manager Travis Kolbe said the glimpse of the bird-like squid was his favorite moment.

"Some of the animals we have seen on the seabed and in the water column are amazing, but the most impressive thing is that we are watching a Cranchiidae. With the ROV it seems to have admitted we were there and stared back a short time before turning away , 'Travis Kolbe said.
