Discovering the planet has never been long before

Astronomers have discovered outer planets The solar system has the longest year, up to 704 days.

Kepler-421b planet , takes nearly 2 years of Earth to surround a ring around its host star. Astronomers say that most of the more than 1,800 extrasolar planets discovered so far have a host close distance and a much shorter trajectory than the planet Kepler-421b.

"Detecting the Kepler-421b planet is extremely lucky ," said Dr. David Kipping, head of the research team at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics (USA). 'The farther a planet is from its host, the less it moves through the star when viewed from Earth'.

Kepler-421b is about 177 million kilometers from the orange star Kepler-421, while the Kepler-421 star is colder and dimmer than the Sun. This makes the planet the same size as Uranus with temperatures below -93 degrees C.

Astronomers discovered the planet Kepler-421b after analyzing data sent from the Kepler spacecraft of the US Aviation Agency (NASA). Kepler observed Kepler-421 for 4 years, but only discovered Kepler-421b 2 times.

Kepler-421 star is located about 1,000 light-years from our Earth. It belongs to the constellation Lyra.
