Earthquake in Quang Ninh province

At 11:55 am 25 seconds (Hanoi time) on June 13, in the area of ​​Yen Hung district (Quang Ninh) a small earthquake occurred.

The record of the Earthquake Alert Center and Tsunami Warning (from the Institute of Geophysics - Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology) shows that this earthquake has a magnitude of 3.1.

The observations stated that the earthquake occurred at the position of coordinates 20.91 latitude North, 106.89 East East, the depth of drainage was about 7km. According to the initial judgment, this is a weak earthquake, not likely to cause damage.

Talking to Vietnam + reporter, Dr. Le Huy Minh, Deputy Director of the Institute of Geophysics said, this earthquake is not an unusual phenomenon. This is a consequence of the operation in Cao Bang - Tien Yen fault zone.

Reportedly, in May last, Earthquake Reporting Center and tsunami warning has also recorded 3 earthquakes in Lao Cai (3.8 Richter scale), Son La (4.2 Richter scale) and Yunnan Province (China-5.6 Richter).

The above earthquakes occur in Vietnam are small. The earthquake in Yunnan caused tremors at level IV and level V in some places in Lao Cai and Lai Chau areas, however, it is unlikely to cause damage to people and construction works in the above localities.
