Eat fruit or drink better juice?

According to a study in Southern Medical Journal, 1 in 3 parents believe that it is good for health. Is it true?

Perhaps we often think that eating fruit or squeezing out drinks is equally effective, but scientists point out many differences.

Fruit juice lacks fiber

According to The Time, when squeezing juice, an important ingredient in fruit is not preserved. That is fiber.

The body cannot digest fiber but fiber is important, helping to regulate human digestion.

In the intestine, the fiber does not melt and softens the stool, stimulates the intestine to contract and fight constipation.

In addition, fiber also plays a role in regulating intestinal bacteria, reducing blood cholesterol, reducing the risk of colon cancer .

A diet high in fiber not only lacks these benefits, but it also makes the body feel full even though it is very low in energy.

Just natural sugar

Talking to The Time, Dr. Scott Kahan, director of the National Center for Weight and Health USA said that no fiber, juice is just sugar and water combined with aromas.

Sugar found in fruit juices is usually fructose, a natural sugar. The liver is the only organ capable of metabolizing large amounts of fructose for the body to use.

Cynthia Sass, a nutritionist in New York, USA said: "Only about 30ml of pure fruit juice is equal to the amount of sugar of a few glasses of fruit." When excess, sugar can be converted into fat, leading to insulin resistance.

According to the Healthline page, usually when you eat fruit, you will need to chew it thoroughly before swallowing. This time consuming process contributes to the amount of sugar that is slowly converted in the stomach and then transferred to the liver.

But when drinking fruit juice, the sudden increase in sugar pressure puts pressure on the organs, especially the liver.

Does juice reduce weight?

According to the Washington Post, most of fruit juice is pure sugar, though not toxic, but can cause obesity or type 2 diabetes.

"In my experience, I have not seen a study that shows fruit juice plays a role in weight loss," said Dr. Scott Kahan.

On the contrary, when you eat fruit, you will consume more fiber, which will help you to be hungry longer. Also when drinking fruit juice, the body gives you a feeling of fullness like when drinking lots of water, not full of food.

Lack of fiber, juice is hard to lose weight. Body fiber absorbed when eating fruit reduces appetite while preventing absorption of fat, thus supporting weight loss with obese people.

What about industrial fruit juices?

According to The Guardian, normally after pressing from fruits, juice is preserved with antioxidants before packing. However, at present, many kinds of canned fruit juice do not contain real fruits but only sugar and flavoring.

The flavor here plays a role in compensating for the taste lost during processing or increasing the sense of smell and taste for the user.

Because the amount of sugar in industrial products is often higher than normal, it increases the risk of obesity and cardiovascular disease. Studies have shown that this excess sugar also increases triglyceride, cholesterol in the body.

Juices are also a cause of dental disease. For example, large types of acid or sugar in fruit juice can erode tooth enamel, causing tooth decay.
