Figure 8 chicken egg

Ms. Dong, who lives in Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province, northern China for the first time witnessed a special chicken egg in her home.

One night, Mrs. Dong heard the strange cry of the hen in the cage. The next morning, she was surprised to find a strange shaped egg in the nest of the hen. Two conjoined chicken eggs stuck together like figure 8.

Many neighbors have come to see the figure 8 egg in Mrs. Dong's house. She decided not to sell the egg and store it in the box.

According to Professor Wu Yuefeng, from Hebei University's Department of Life Sciences, said: 'The egg is very rare. This may be the result of a lack of calcium in hens 'diets, leading to the absence of a hard shell.'
