Find out what new antibiotics help overcome drug resistance

Scientists have recently found a new antibiotic that is highly effective against current antibiotic-resistant bacteria.

According to research results published in the journal Cell (USA) on June 15, "pseudouridimycin" , or PUM is an antibiotic produced from bacteria found in a soil sample taken in Italy.

PUM works on the mechanism of neutralizing enzyme Polymerase - an enzyme necessary for almost all functions of all organisms.

In experiments, this antibiotic showed the ability to kill many types of bacteria (20 types) and cured mice with Scarlet fever.

This antibiotic is especially effective for streptococci and staph , bacteria resistant to many antibiotics.

Not only does it impress the effectiveness of killing many bacteria, but this antibiotic also shows that the risk of resistance is 10 times lower than current antibiotics.

Scientists from Rutgers University - New Brunswick (New Jersey, USA) and Italy's Naicons Biotechnology Company, the author of the study, said the expected clinical trials could begin within Next 3 years.

If all goes well, a new antibiotic will be launched in 10 years.

According to the authors, the research results again prove that the bacteria hidden in the ground are the best source of antibiotics.
