Found the old city mentioned in the Bible

Scientists believe that they have finally found a place that once existed in Neta'im city, mentioned in the Old Testament.

Based on the relationship between Neta'im and other cities mentioned in the Bible and archaeological relics attributed to King David's time (the king of the Israelis appears in the Bible) reigns, Scientists claim that Neta'im may be in the area today called Khirbet Qeiyafa in Israel, a city located in the Elah valley area.

At Khirbet Qeiyafa, Professor Yosef Garfinkel and Saar Ganor discovered many relics of an ancient fortress city on top of a hill overlooking the Elah valley. Pottery pieces and cellars contain olives dating to about 1,000 BC.

Most scholars think this is the reign of King David. In addition, the pottery inscriptions found in this area, the oldest Jewish script, are also thought to have a similar date about a culture developed in this area.

Professor Gershon Galil, who specializes in Bible studies at Israel's Haifa University, said that the inhabitants of Neta'im were pottery makers specializing in the production of the king's utensils. It is an important administrative center near the border with the Philistines.

Khirbet Qeiyafa affirmation that Neta'im once existed is even more fundamental when the Khirbet Ğudraya area near the Elah valley was also identified as the Gederah city in the Bible. Both Gederah and Neta'im appear in the Bible as follows: 'They are pottery makers, the inhabitants of Neta'im and Gederah, they live here to serve the king'.

Previously, archaeologists once thought that in the Khirbet Qeiyafa area which once existed, another city mentioned in the Bible is Sha'arayim (meaning 'Two gates').
