'Gaur's genetic resources are very rare'

The Director of Agricultural Genetics, PGS - Dr. Le Huy Ham said that the breeding of gaur breeds with domestic cows will create a valuable genetic resource, good resistance to diseases.

Recently a black bull, weighing about a ton, appeared in Bac Ray 2 village near Phuoc Binh National Park in Ninh Thuan, attacking people and bulls. Local people believe that bulls are flirting with cows that should attack all bulls. A calf was born about a month, thought to be the son of this bull, based on the genetic characteristics of the bull like bigger cattle of the same age, big and short tail, the neck does not have the same affection as the cattle. .

Some opinions suggest that bulls are unlikely to breed with domestic cows, to produce offspring. However, genetic experts claim that this ability is entirely possible. Associate Prof. Dr. Le Huy Ham said that this is a gift from nature, so research topics should be organized to store this gene source.

Dr. Ham also affirmed that gaurs with crossbreds are possible because they are of the same species. For example, people in different continents with different skin colors can completely produce offspring. The hybrid becgie can be with dogs; ' ta ' cat with Russian cat (white, fur).

Mr. Hoang Van Tieu, Director of Livestock (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) said that animals with the same number of chromosomes can completely breed. The case of bulls and cows in Phuoc Binh National Park, is an example.

The calf is said to be the " descendant " of the bull, having similar characteristics in appearance to the bull. It was only one month old but it was 3 times bigger than your peers. In particular, it is much more difficult and shy than the cow, the neck has no affection like a normal cow, the back has no u, the tail is short and black, the back and the abdomen have a long black stripe, the four legs are black .

The National Institute of Animal Husbandry has also imported two cross-bred cows from Thailand to try to breed with cows and succeed, so far the calf has grown well. In Vietnam since the 1960s, it has carried out the import and renovation of domestic cattle breeds by importing the strong Sind crossbred cows; or by importing sperm of Cuban, Dutch, Australian cows for breeding. However, Mr. Tieu said that, for bulls in Phuoc Binh, it is necessary to determine which new species of cow has accurate conclusions.

According to Mr. Nguyen Cong Van, Director of Phuoc Binh National Park (Ninh Thuan), Ninh Thuan Provincial People's Committee has just decided to grant VND 25 million to the national park to fund the protection of bulls, ensuring people's lives. In the near future, Phuoc Binh National Park will invite scientists to discuss and develop a research topic of rare and precious bulls. In particular, the bulls that appear in Silver Ray 2 are the only bulls to be sacked biologically in the area of Phuoc Binh National Park.
