This protein has been shown to be associated with cardiovascular disease, depression and even stroke.

The survey showed that men with the lowest rate of C-reactive protein were married at 1.16 milligrams per liter of blood compared with 2.72 milligrams of single men.

The researchers concluded that marriage helps men reduce the risk of disease problems by 10.34%, which is equivalent to maintaining an ideal body weight.

Professor Tony Cassidy of the University of Ulster commented that the above results show the positive effects of marriage and strong social relationships. " Men do not necessarily need support from friends like women. So having a spouse is very important ," he said.
