The disappearance of the forest reveals a circle with a diameter of 36 to 46 km in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

BBC said, information about the circle was announced in the scientific conference on the moon and planet in Texas, USA. The circle appears clearly on the satellite image and lies at about 550 m altitude. Unia River flows around the circle.

Giovanni Monegato, a scientist from the University of Padova, Italy, says that the satellite only detects the circle after the trees above disappear in the past decade. According to the Earth Impact Database, there are only 25% craters on a larger sized circle in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Scientists say the circle may be a giant hole's mouth. This hole was born after a meteorite crashed into the earth. They are also looking for other causes, but no theory is convincing.

"I am very optimistic about the theory that the circle is the result of a collision , " BBC quoted Monegato.

Monegato said he and his colleagues would go to the Congo to study the circle. They will examine the rock samples there to look for signs related to a collision between the earth and the meteorite.

According to experts, if the circle is actually the result of a collision, the meteorite hitting the globe must have a diameter of at least 2 km. The Monegato group has not yet identified the date of the circle, but they predict it dates from the Jurassic period - that is, 146 to 200 million years ago.
