Improved silo: New technology for preserving agricultural products

Harvesting and preserving rice is the last stage in a season of farmers. Under the sun, by manual methods, growers can only store their grain in a very short time.

A new model of Silo is capable of overcoming the disadvantages of many current preservation methods. The product is researched and manufactured by Vietnamese scientists in order to provide an optimal plan to minimize agricultural damage in storage.

According to Professor - Doctor of Science Bui Song Cau, Research Center for Industrial Technology and Equipment of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology: handling and overcoming the disadvantages of weather and climate in Vietnam It is successful in preserving agricultural products.

The model he and his colleagues relied on was the principle of preventing external heat from heating and escaping the heat from the inside with ventilation. In the current conditions of Vietnam, the safe and reasonable temperature is 35 degrees Celsius. With such a defined temperature, the process of putting paddy into Silo must also comply with the cleaning order, removing impurities, Additional drying by the incinerator system and finally through the loading bucket to enter Silo. Silo itself is also improved now: from the roof part to help the rice flow evenly, the inside has a ventilation fan for air conditioning, the heat-resistant edges are enhanced and, importantly, four collection hoppers are installed to Help take out the grain easily.

With the preservation of agricultural products such as this new model of Silo, people have saved a lot of labor, limiting the accumulation of bacteria and impurities as previously preserved. The loss of agricultural products during storage is also significantly reduced.

The application of the new Silo also allows farmers to gradually mechanize the production of food, saving costs and much more convenient. When comparing the effectiveness of domestically designed Silo with Silos imported from abroad, the scientists showed that the application of Vietnamese agricultural preservation is appropriate. And a significant reduction in costs, up to 1/3 of the cost of imported Silos.

With a high annual export volume of rice, Vietnam needs to have improved processes in preserving food products. Proposing a form of Silo with new structure suitable to the specific climate of Vietnam, solving the problem of moisture balance and importantly reducing the loss rate, improving the quality of preservation is the target set. for Vietnamese scientists when studying this issue.
