The 'Robot of the Year' is an annual award initiated by the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) in 2006 to promote the research movement - developing robots across the various industries in the country.

This year's grand prize belongs to i-Sobot 'tiny robot' (Japanese means 'love' and 'play') because its manufacturing technology is rated as advanced, affordable - 30,000 yen (5.6 million) and high entertainment value. i-Sobot has a modest body shape, weighs only 350 grams and is only 16.5 cm tall. The 'boy' is equipped with 17 dedicated motors and a gyroscope sensor system that keeps it balanced on the move. Like us, i-Sobot can move forward, backward, sideways, and turn left or right. The product of Takara Tomy company has 4 operating modes to 'buy fun' for users.

In addition to mastering the ability to travel, i-Sobot can perform many activities such as playing wind guitar, dancing hula dance of the Hawaiian Island girls (USA), archery, acrobatics, Chinese martial arts, dance dance, exercise . and more than 190 other movements. He could even mimic the chicken's gesture, squeaking and bowing his head to the ground while his hands curled up like two chicken wings. You can control the robot by remote or use voice commands. If you want 'boy' to perform pre-programmed movements, the user must press the button combination on the remote. For example, pressing the '2' button twice followed by the 'K' button, i-Sobot will launch a kick like the Chinese masters and end with a confident footing (photo 1). When using the '2-3-2-B' button combination, the robot will understand that you want it to act as a sniffer (photo 2).

The manufacturer has prepared 10 commands (in English) for users to communicate with i-Sobot, such as 'Look out,' (Watch out) or 'How are you?' (How are you?). Although it is designed to recognize the user's pre-programmed voice commands, i-Sobot sometimes responds in style, 'he said, she said duck'. When this is the case, it will apologize. The robot itself can speak about 200 words / phrases in English, especially it can imitate Romeo and Juliet in the scene where the two characters meet at Juliet's garden. This 'snail' robot can also say 'I love you' with his arms outstretched or wish you 'Happy Birthday' and sing a short song in the song. happy birthday

Although it is a robot that is very playful, i-Sobot is not as smart as Sony's Aibo robot dog. It cannot recognize the situation around you, recognize your face, or draw experiences like other advanced robots. i-Sobot uses 4 AAA batteries with an operating time of about 1 hour. It is shipped in two main colors, black and white.
