Kidney stones are not frozen but continuously dissolve and develop

According to Scientific Reports, minerals and salts in urine are deposited in the kidneys, forming gravel for a long time. Kidney stones are one of the common causes of kidney failure, kidney stones are formed layer by layer from calcium deposits, much like the minerals in nature.

Coral reefs or rocks in hot springs also formed in the same way. A new study of scientists at the University of Illinois, USA, about kidney stones suggests that this is not a deadly fossil. They are constantly destroyed and formed again, which is a dynamic system.

Thus, kidney stones consist of thin layers of alternating organic matter and crystals. In some places of kidney stones, "multi-layer cake" is interrupted by the crystal inside protruding. At the earliest stage of development, calcium crystals form a large, unstable structure. The organic material layer and other crystals grow on this core, creating an outer shell.

In geology, usually inner layers form after layers on the surface. With kidney stones, everything is different - the outer layers are constantly dissolving and growing again. If the internal crystals are also dissolved, the new layers of calcium deposition immediately begin to appear in the cavity that has just formed.

Microbiology professor Bruce Fouke emphasized that scientists found that kidney stones underwent a process of dynamic development and dissolving and dissolving each other. This means that medicine could one day intervene to completely dissolve the stones immediately in the patient's kidney.

The professor added that, instead of being a worthless crystal tumor, kidney stones are a minute-by-minute record of one's kidney health and function.
