KUMON introduced the result of amnesia treatment

Japan's leading children's educational supplement company, KUMON has introduced 10-year achievements in treating dementia for older people (Dementia) at the Learning and Therapy Symposium for European and American countries. The conference was held on January 22 in Kobe with the attendance of 1,700 people. With the same method used for children, dementia therapy for older people has been extremely positive.

Dementia is now considered a major problem in developed countries, with 25 million people suffering from the disease worldwide, of which 6 million in China alone, 5 million in the US and Japan. Version is 2.4 million patients.

Therefore, KUMON's therapy has been very well received.

This therapy is due to the research results of Professor Ryuta Kawashima from Tohoku University. After a long period of research on the brains of dementia patients, Professor Ryuta discovered that the human brain can recover thanks to therapy, which is much more effective than medication. , reducing costs from government welfare funds.

Since 1998, Professor Ryuta began conducting investigations into stimulation for the brain to work on calculation methods and reading and writing activities. Based on the assumption that the calculation, reading the text will maintain and enhance the ability to work and from which humans can slow down the aging process of the brain. Professor Ryuta experimented on 32 Alzheimer's patients and divided into 2 groups (each group of 16 people), one group treated according to the above therapy, one group did not.

After 6 months, the result that Professor Ryuta received was very positive. The condition of the group of 16 patients treated by calculation, reading and writing therapy has improved markedly, while the remaining 16 patients with illnesses have gotten worse.

Professor Ryuta published this research in the American journal 'Journal of Gerontology' in 2005 and this therapy is considered 'miraculous'.

In the last conference, KUMON also reported on cases of patients who had been successfully treated thanks to the above therapy, including patients who had been reported by Reuters news agency.

KUMON has also received a proposal to cooperate on this therapy from the US, Finland, Italy, Germany and the UK.

Since 10 years ago, KUMON has started to apply its teaching methods to therapy for dementia patients. Based on the results obtained, the KUMON method has been used to prevent Alzheimer's disease, expanding the 'Brain Health Care' classes throughout Japan.

At the conference, KUMON emphasized that every country has different experiences in the treatment of diseases and the dissemination of useful methods for other countries is essential. It is in line with the principle that the founder KUMON, Tooru has proposed for half a century, to 'contribute to the development of the world through the development of human resources'.
