Moonlight will hinder observing the most beautiful meteor shower of the year in Vietnam

In the morning of 13 and 14 months, astronomers can watch the meteor shower Geminids. This is also the last meteor shower of 2016.

According to Mr. Dang Vu Tuan Son, Chairman of Vietnam Young Astronomical Club, this is one of the two most beautiful meteor showers in each year, along with the meteor shower Perseids occurred in August.

The center of this meteor shower is the Gemini constellation . The meteorological density at the peak can reach 120 streaks per hour and this is considered to be a meteor shower worth observing with astronomers.

Unfortunately, the maximum time of Geminids takes place during the full moon , November 15 and November 16 (Lunar calendar). Therefore, the light of the Moon will be a big obstacle for the observer . Even if the weather conditions are ideal, the number of meteors visible will also decrease significantly.

However, for those who love watching the sky, this is still a remarkable astronomical phenomenon.

When observing meteor shower, viewers need to pay attention to the weather problem, avoid high pressure light as well as choose safe places.
