Mummy of mother and son 300 years old in the tomb of the church

Researchers plan to examine the mother and daughter's 300-year-old corpses autopsy discovered under a church in Hungary.

According to The Epoch Times, mummies belong to a 38-year-old woman named Veronica Skripetz and her one-year-old son. Both are more likely to die from tuberculosis. Doctors at the Orange County Global Medical Center in Santa Ana, California, USA, plan to conduct a virtual autopsy on two mummies to understand life and the causes of their deaths, Reuters reported.

The two mummies were first discovered in 1994 at Vac church when repairs took place. About 250 other mummies were also discovered in the underground tomb of the church.

"Now we can find answers about their lives and explain why many children die from childhood. They do not have antibiotics and vaccines. Very high mortality rates in children. High, "said Ildiko Szikossy, an anthropologist from Hungary.

Scientists plan to use modern computerized tomography (CT) techniques on mummies. CT scan results will be announced later this month.

"The mother has an almost intact look from top to bottom while the child has some small broken bones. We don't really know what we're going to find. We are like to unravel a surprise. The mother seems to have died of tuberculosis, but the scans will reveal more details, "said Jim Sutherland, a CT scans specialist.
