New cancer prediction model

A group of American epidemiologists at the University of Washington has designed a statistical model called Rosner-Colditz, which serves as a new method to estimate the risk of breast cancer in women to be able to treat it early and prevent.

According to research published in Breast Cancer Research and Treatment , the Rosner-Colditz model examines the factors that have been recorded contributing to the risk of breast cancer such as bodybuilding index, alcohol use, age of menstruation. first trimester, menopause and menopause, as well as considering the possibility of a person being examined for each treatment or surgical removal of the ovary.

The team tested the model's accurate predictor of breast cancer risk in more than 130,000 female teachers in California and followed it for 14 years. Scientists found that the Rosner-Colditz model achieved the highest predictive accuracy among women aged 47 to 69 years. Dr. Graham A. Colditz, co-author of this model, announced: 'One quarter of all breast cancer cases are correctly diagnosed in the 10% of women who are predicted to be at risk within 5 years. . However, like other cancer prediction models, Rosner-Colditz is less accurate than age 70. "

Dr. Colditz said: 'Over the past 20 years, we have developed a model for classification of breast cancer risk fully, the next step is to coordinate clinical implementation to enhance prevention. "
