New recommendations about sleep time by age

A new recommendation for sleep duration, much more detailed for each age has been published by US experts, for example preschoolers should sleep 10-13 hours a day (instead of the 11-13 hours before). .

The National Sleep Foundation has recently launched new recommendations for sleep duration for healthy people by age group, most of which are in the direction of widening the sleeping time frame. Previously, this organization had only one recommendation about the time needed to sleep for all adults.

Experts have reviewed more than 300 sleep science studies over the past 10 years, including studies of the health effects of too little or too much sleep."This recommendation helps individuals schedule sleep schedules in a healthier, more helpful way," said David Cloud, CEO of the National Sleep Foundation.

Experts acknowledge that some people may sleep shorter or longer than the recommended range but still do not adversely affect their health. However, sleep time should not be too far from normal range because it can lead to bad health consequences.

Sleep is less associated with health problems, including obesity and high blood pressure, as well as productivity reduction and drowsy driving. Too much sleep is associated with health conditions as well as heart disease and premature death.
