New study: Typing the keyboard one finger no more than 10 fingers?

A recent study by scientists at Vanderbilt University, Tennessee (USA) showed that typing keyboard style "pecking" a finger is actually not slower than typing the keyboard with 10 fingers.

The researchers found that with "pecking" typing, they could type 72 characters per minute, compared with trained typists, typing an average of 10 fingers per 80 characters per minute. However, to achieve the above 72 characters, researchers can only achieve if using a flat keyboard.

The first typing courses were conducted around 1880, which aims to help people get used to typewriters.

And in the 20th century, public schools in Western countries have increased the content of teaching keyboard typing into their curriculum.

The method of typing 10-finger keyboard is considered the most appropriate and fastest method.

In the 21st century, modern keyboards have changed a lot today, but the way we use them has not changed much.

The 10-finger keyboard method , considered the fastest and most appropriate method, is a technique that requires the keyboard typeer to place eight fingers on a "master key line" (usually the third key line from below). up), to reach the designated keys and the other two fingers (thumb) placed on the space bar.

However, this typing method has proven that it has disadvantages when it is difficult to be popular with many typists because it is hard for the typist to locate many keys on the QWERTY keyboard and the new typist is hard to put. Hand back to the keystroke position first.

Vanderbilt University scientists did a test with 48 participants, half of whom were "non-standard typists" and half of "standard typists".

Non-standard keyboard typists can type almost as quickly and accurately as typing 10 fingers.

"Under the basic psychological law governing motor skills, typing style using all fingers will help typing the fastest and most effective," said psychology professor Gordon Logan.

"This theory has been confirmed by our research for letting participants experiment with typing on a definite surface at a rapid rate, however, we also discovered that those who type on the keyboard Incorrect typing can also type almost quickly and exactly like typing 10 fingers as long as they can see the keyboard, " said Logan.

In tests, the average typist typed 80 words per minute compared to 72 of non-standard typists.

"We even gave a typist two fingers and 60 words in a minute , " Logan said.
