Olive seeds that have carbonized can be used in construction

Spanish researchers have demonstrated that carbonized olive seeds can be used in construction. This special material is not only highly ecological but also has good thermal and sound insulation.

Spain is the world's leading producer of olive oil and also generates a large amount of waste from this industry. An olive fruit contains only about 20% of the oil, so about 37,500 tons of waste will be pushed out into the environment.

In order to seek the maximum benefit from these wastes, Madrid Polytechnic's Construction and Environmental Technology Group has experimented using different types of olive waste (monolithic, canopy and crushed) to make construction materials and can replace expanded clay which is popular in Spain to mix with concrete.

After the analysis, the scientists came to the conclusion that carbonization is the optimal choice , and in the water, also patented the technique of mixing carburetors of similar types .

"In the course of the study, we found that in Spain patented the calcification of nuts. We contacted the inventor, he provided us with the number of seeds processed. And this is a great alternative to blooming clay, ' Professor Mercedes del Río revealed in an interview with Sputnik.

In construction, clay is often used to add mixtures, mortar and concrete. However, processing olive seeds does not require such significant energy costs, unlike the production of hatched clay.

According to experts, this eco-friendly material can be used in construction not only for the production of lightweight coating materials but also useful for sound-reducing concrete, because of its characteristic olive properties. Heat and sound insulation effectively.

"This material is used to create extremely good insulation for products that require the necessary thickness, as well as high sound insulation due to its porosity , " Mercedes said.
