Operated outside the first spacecraft of female astronauts

NASA plans to send two female astronauts outside the International Space Station to troubleshoot battery problems this week.

"The first spacewalk trip, conducted by female astronauts, Christina Koch and Jessica Meir, will take place on Thursday or Friday," said the director of the US Aeronautics and Space Administration ( NASA) Jim Bridenstine announced on Twitter. As planned, both will have an adventure trip outside the International Space Station (ISS) to replace a faulty battery charger.

Each lithium-ion battery needs a device to adjust the amount of charge it charges. Such a regulator had malfunctioned last Friday night, causing one of the three newly installed battery packs to stop working. The mission is being entrusted by NASA to two female astronauts working on the ISS.

In the past there have been 14 female astronauts performing spacewalk but all of them accompany their male colleagues. So Koch and Meir are on their way to making a new historic milestone. Initially, the "all-female spacewalk" was planned in March, with Christina Koch and Anne McClain, but the mission was postponed due to problems associated with protective suits.

"This is the third spacewalk to be carried out this week. The good news is that we have 4 other experts on the ISS to support this difficult mission," said McClain, who returned to Earth in May. 6 gave words of encouragement to her two female colleagues who were working at the orbital lab.

Despite the battery problem, the orbital lab and the six astronauts on it remained safe."The current situation is under control and scientific activities will not be affected," said Kenny Todd, manager at the ISS space station.
