Skiers in the western Swedish resort of Vemdalen have the opportunity to observe a rare phenomenon or "Ghost Sun" when the Low Rise is surrounded by a halo of 22 degrees , Independent yesterday reported.

The halo appears when sunlight refracts through the cirrus clouds at an altitude of nearly 6,100 meters above the ground. These long and fragile clouds contain millions of ice crystals due to freezing water droplets in the air. The light reflected through the ice crystal causes the wavelength of the light to change, creating an aura that surrounds the Sun at a 22-degree angle.

Aura can also appear around the Moon, but light is often not strong enough to see clearly.
