Pumpkin weighs more than a ton to carry by truck

Two twins came from Hampshire to break the previous record set with Britain's heaviest pumpkin weighing 1,030kg.

Stuart and Ian Paton officially set a record at the Autumn Pumpkin Festival at Netley, Southampton, England, after planting a giant pumpkin weighing over a ton, Long Room reported. The 53-year-old twins broke their own record last year with a difference of 6.8kg.

The Paton brothers said they had to irrigate 114 liters of water every day for the pumpkin to grow. One of the pumpkins even increased by 27kg in one day.

"Cultivation is technically and time consuming. Stuart's brother and I can spend three hours a day to take care of pumpkins, using 114 liters of water a day. We must be very careful when moving. because they can't set a record if they break, " Ian said.

The brothers said they started planting pumpkins 10 years ago after going on vacation and realized the growth that pumpkin can achieve.

The pumpkin holds the largest record in the world, weighing 1,190kg, grown in Belgium by Mathias Willemijns, but Ian believes he and his brother will soon break that record.

"There are really no secrets, all thanks to hard work . Every skill, we improve our technology and make ourselves better, but that is not easy. We will surpass the record. if the world maintains this momentum, " Ian said.
