Rare photos: Fire ants stand with one leg

As an artist performing a bale on stage, a fire ant in a wonderful photo is showing his balance with one leg.

The rare sight in this world of ants was discovered by photographer Robertus Agung Sudiatmoko accidentally following a flock of fire ants near his small village in Cibinong, Indonesia.

He was unlucky to capture many pictures of the little ant that was passionate about dancing, but surely this picture is the most spectacular scene in its 30-second performance when it stands to balance only with one foot.

In another photo, Robertus recorded the fire ants climbing a tiny mountain peak, clasping their hands in front of their chests to look up at the sky while a small beam of light shone down on it like a fanciful prayer picture.

The third photo shows the supernatural power of the fire ant when it is easy to pull and squish a giant leaf 10 times longer than its body length.

Robertus, 29, who lives in Jakarta, said the photos were taken in September 2010 during storms.

In some ways, the fire ants look beautiful and gentle. But they are also extremely fierce insects. When they get angry, they can use their pincers to make their prey very painful. Each fire ant nest has several hundred thousand children and several queen ants.

Every year, Americans spend about $ 5 million to deal with fire ants and treat their bites.
