Revealing the tremor of the mysterious national identity in the Bible

The ancient tomb in Israel promises to reveal the true identity of one of the most mysterious people in the Bible.

The Philistine is one of the most important figures, and has the most scornful image, in the stories told in the Bible. According to The Independent, the name "Philistine" is still used today to refer to those who are uneducated, mediocre, who don't appreciate art. However, new discoveries in an ancient tomb in Israel promise to "whitewash" the status of this grace.

In the ancient tomb discovered in 1985 in Israel, scientists have for the first time found the buried body of 200 Philistines. Members of the ancient nation in the Bible are buried with many jewels and aromatic oils. This shows that the Philistine also has a rich culture, not completely "mortal" as described. Scientists are conducting more experiments to further clarify the identity of this nation.

Architect Lawrence Stager, who led the archeology team in 1985, said: "The Philistine has suffered a lot of notoriety in history. This discovery will help end many unfortunate legends about them . " This is the first time scientists around the world have found the remains of Philistines.

Archaeologist Professor Daniel Master, one of the leaders of the excavation process, said: "After decades of studying Philistines based on their antiquities, we were finally able to" meet face "this people. We are approaching to decipher the mystery of the origin of this group of people".

According to The Independent, in the Bible records, the Philistines are described as "archenemy" with ancient Israelis . The most famous Philistine in the Bible is "the Goliath giant" , the warrior of this nation was defeated by King David of the Jews. The same source of Philistine is the reason that the ancient Romans named this land Palestine , according to The Independent.

The story of the war between Goliath, the Philistine warrior, and King David of the Jews is mentioned in the Bible.

This discovery was announced on July 10, after more than 30 hard excavations by project archaeologists Leon Levy. This project includes archaeologists from many prestigious universities such as Harvard, Boston, Wheaton, and Troy.

Scientists have kept their findings secret for the past three years, until the excavation is complete. They do not want the work to be threatened by Jews according to extremist Orthodox in Israel. To find this tomb, Stager's team unearthed nearly 3 meters below a hundred-year-old Roman ancient vineyard.

The Jewish Orthodox groups have held many protests in archaeological sites to discover the remains of the ancients. They claim that those buried may be ancient Jews, and the excavation of these remains is blasphemy of their religion.

The skeletons estimated by scientists date from more than three centuries ago. People discovered weapons, jewelry and aromatic oils buried with remains. Many extremely rare ashes were also discovered inside the ancient burial site. A number of infant bone storage boxes have also been discovered.

"Their lives show very high civilization, and have a very close connection with the cultures of the eastern Mediterranean Sea," Stager said. The architect also said that the Philistine's "extravagant" lifestyle was even contrary to the simple rural lifestyle of ancient Israelis.

The remains found will also help scientists determine which Philistine originates from in the Aegean Sea region. Until now, scholars still debate whether the Philistine originated from Greece, Cyprus, or Anatolia region of Turkey today.

Detecting concussions about this ancient tomb also helps clarify the rituals of the Philstine who buried the dead. The remains are buried with jars of aromatic oils, placed close to the face of the dead. Vials of oil, wine and food are placed near the feet. Some cases are buried with a necklace, bracelet, earring or even ring on the toe. Some remains were buried with weapons.

The findings at the ancient abdomen were displayed at the Rocketfeller Archaeological Museum, in Jerusalem on July 10.
