Robot poured beer

Japan's Asahi brewery plans to distribute 5,000 robots for personal beers. Each robot can hold up to 6 cans of beer in a cold chamber in their belly.

Just press the button and the simple robot will open the beer and pour cool drinks into a glass for the owner.

To be given free robots like this, people have to take part in a competition and competition only for people living in Japan. The rewards will be for the person collecting 36 votes on specially marked beer cans.

Some robots say that this is an interesting way to motivate people's interest in robots. However, according to others, it's just a kind of advertising to attract customers to buy beer.

Gaurav Sukhatme, a robotics expert at the University of Southern California, said: "I think the demand for robots in the home is huge ." Magnus Wurzer, who hosted an event in which cocktail bartenders in Vienna in November 2005, said the robotic family was about to explode.
