Strange phenomena occur when sleeping

Humans contain many strange mysterious statues that not everyone knows. Even in sleep, there are strange phenomena such as sleepwalking, dreaming, body paralysis or even sexual relations that many people are confused.

If you're lucky, you'll spend a peaceful night with sleepless dreams. In many cases, people wake up with a sense of embarrassment and panic because what happened during sleep last night is not normal.

1. Feeling of free fall

This phenomenon is also known as "hypn jerk" (hypnosis) . Usually when dreaming, muscles will temporarily be paralyzed to control the actions in the dream. But sometimes dreams come quickly, before the body can activate this state.

Dr. Winter thinks this explains the feeling of falling off a cliff or stumbling and startling you. The sure cause of this phenomenon has not yet fallen, but the researchers said that it could happen after a day of stressful, overworked or inadequate work. Meanwhile, the rushing brain goes to sleep while the body has not caught up.

2. The body is numb

Occasionally some of us panic when the morning wakes up and can't move our arms or legs or worse we can't say. Many people also feel unable to breathe and describe this feeling like an elephant sitting on his chest.

The phenomenon that many people panic can last from a few seconds to a few minutes. Its mechanism in contrast to the sleep-related shock mentioned above, occurs when the brain wakes up before the paralysis of the muscle comes with deep sleep that ends its task.

3. Sleepiness

Most sleep-related behaviors are harmless but sleepwalking is not counted among them because it is quite dangerous, especially when sleepwalkers move or drive unconsciously.

'When sleepwalking, you are getting out of sleep just enough for your body to work again, but not enough for your brain to wake up , ' said Dr. Winter. This explains why no one remembers anything about his " midnight " trip after waking up.

In addition, some sleeping pills can cause odd side effects such as cooking, driving or even drinking while you're sleepwalking. At that time, even if you wake up at night, the effects of the drug still affect the brain, making actions unconsciously.

So Dr. Winter recommends that if users encounter this phenomenon, they should see a doctor for timely advice.

4. Say dreams when sleeping

About 5% of adults say sleeplessness is the statistics of the US Sleep Research Academy. On average, most of the words on this unconscious pillow last only for about 30 seconds.

'Usually the phenomenon of dreaming takes place within the first 1-2 hours of sleep. This is the period when the body is beginning to go into deep sleep, but muscles still have the energy to produce sounds or movements that accompany the dream , 'Dr. Winter said.

5. The dream comes back

A dream is the way the brain arranges things to reevaluate and process before storing them with memories. Repeated dreams can occur with many unresolved psychological problems that the brain is still trying to classify.

According to Dr. Winter, dreams of this type are often based on a practical part. So if you get robbed when shopping, this dream will repeat many times until you can understand and accept. Conversely, if you just go to the store to buy milk, bread, the brain will handle it right away and there will be no dream to haunt you every night.

6. Sex while sleeping

You should not be too frightened or guilty if you wake up and find your love halfway. In a study by the University of Toronto (Canada) in 800 patients at the Sleep Disorders Center, 8% admitted they had behaviors related to sex during sleep (sexmonia) . This is considered a form of sleep disorder with the expression of 'love' during sleep.

'In my observation, the behaviors, words . associated with this phenomenon of patients are often very different from when they were fully awake,' Dr. Winter said.

As a phenomenon of near-sleep, sex in sleep has similarities to sleepwalking when the body is slowly leaving a deep sleep to move and can talk but the brain is not fully awake.

'Many people just remember what happened or woke up when things were unfinished. This can happen when you want to be satisfied or go to bed with a strong desire, ' explains Dr. Winter.

7. Grind your teeth when you sleep

Teeth grinding is a phenomenon of excessive grinding or tightening of the teeth in the upper and lower jaws and the injury that occurs during sleep. Normally, patients are not aware of this phenomenon, but there are also people grinding their teeth at waking. The grinding of teeth between two jaws causes unpleasant sounds for people who sleep together and those around them.

Sleep apnea is only mentioned in the last ten years. It is a partially or completely obstructed airway condition while sleeping, causing breathing stops and awakening. In the United States, a study of sleep apnea occurred in about 4% of men and 2% of working-age women. In the UK, if counted, up to 1% of men suffer from this disease. The disease is common in men and middle age.

Sleep apnea may occur due to infertility of the larynx, so the throat is collapsed during inhalation; or due to structural abnormalities of the oropharynx, narrowing the airway. Risk factors include: obesity; structural abnormalities of the oropharyngeal organs such as the lower jaw bone, too large tongue, or hypertrophy of the tonsils .; drinking alcohol or sleeping pills before bed; nasal obstruction (a cold or a sagging nose).
