Stunned to find bacteria in the brain

Scientists were completely surprised when they discovered the bacteria in the brain because so far, the human brain has been seen as an inviolable stronghold for bacteria thanks to a cell layer, news site. Daily Beast (USA) reported on March 17.

A group of researchers in Canada has reported that a bacterium, commonly found in soil, has been discovered that can penetrate the human brain.

Initially, the research group did not purposely find bacteria in the brain, but during the analysis of human brain tissue, they unknowingly discovered genetic materials derived from bacteria.

"This discovery shocked us ," said Christopher Power, a professor of neurology at the University of Alberta (Canada), who is also the research leader.

Genetic materials speak on top of them with alpha-proteobacteria , which is a bacterium that can often be found in soil.

The Canadian team found the molecule of this bacterium in the brain of HIV patients, as well as those who had never had common infectious diseases but had brain surgery.

And when injecting the human brain tissue into mice, a few weeks later, the researchers found a bacterial molecule in the rat's brain.

Professor Power said there was still no evidence that the alpha-proteobacteriac bacterium causes disease or benefits, like a bacterium that enhances digestibility found in the human gut.

It is known that this is a breakthrough discovery because according to scientists, to penetrate the brain, bacteria must pass a barrier that is thought to be nearly impenetrable.
