Successfully reconstructed the face of the victim of a 1400-year-old barbaric murder

The current technology of medical rehabilitation is truly remarkable. Thanks to technology, we have been able to recreate the faces of many people in the past, even dogs that lived 4,000 years ago.

And recently, restoration technology continues to have a new achievement, by successfully reproducing the face of a man who lived 1,400 years ago. What is special here is that this person was once brutally murdered in the Scottish Highlands, and the reconstruction of his face will help scientists better assess the cause of death.

The skeleton shows the victim died in a supine position, legs crossed.

Specifically, the skeleton was unearthed at a cave on Scotland's Eastern Black Island, in a well-preserved condition. There are evidence of the cave being used as a place for wrought iron, and the skeleton shows the victim died in a supine position, legs crossed, limbs showing signs of being weighed down by boulders.

This strange scene made the experts from the Department of Anatomy of Dundee University (England) curious. They decided to bring the remains to the laboratory to conduct further research.

The results of the radiation test showed that the victim died in the period of 430 - 630. This data shows that he could be a Pict - a Scottish ethnic group who once stood up against the Romans and the people. Angle was around the 10th century. The name "the Pict" (meaning "drawing") was set by the Romans, because their bodies were covered with tattoos.

Restoring the victim's face.

The analysis showed many cracks in the skull, indicating that the victim had suffered at least five smashes with extreme force.

"The first blow made some teeth on the jaw break," said Professor Dame Sue Black, an anatomist and head of the study. "The second blow seems to be a mace, causing the left jaw bone to break. The third shot causes the back of the skull to crack, probably because he bumps his head against the stone."

"The fourth shot is a fatal blow, piercing the skull from side to side when the victim has fallen," Professor Black continued to describe. "The fifth owl is more strange, unlike the previous four wounds. It creates a big hole right at the top of the head."

The results of the autopsy are like that, but how the day's story goes is still a mystery to scientists. Therefore, they decided to use digital technology, recreate the victim's face in order to have more clues to decipher the mystery. And the result is the picture below.

This man could be a Pict - a Scottish race.

"We do not know why this person was murdered, but the place where the remains are revealed reveals a part of the culture during that period. Probably a personal conflict, perhaps a sacrificial ritual. We don't know yet, "said Steven Birch, the search leader.
