Terrible mass grave of 227 sacrificed children

Cruelly murdered on a massive ritual of sacrifice 1,400 years ago, the remains of 227 children between the ages of 4 and 14 have just been found in a mass grave in Pampa. La Cruz (Huanchaco town, Trujillo city, Peru) .

This is considered the largest child sacrifice ritual ever recorded when 227 children were killed at the same time. Some of the remains still have skin, hair and silver earrings.

Archeologists believe that children born in the Chimú Empire were forced to become scapegoats in a ritual aimed at preventing natural disasters related to the El Niño phenomenon.

This newly discovered mass grave is not the first discovery in Pampa La Cruz of mass murder of children. In June 2018, the remains of 56 children were discovered here.

Also here, a similar ritual took the lives of 140 children and 200 llamas. The archaeological team also discovered the remains of 132 other children in a nearby location.
