The 15m wreck intact after 150 years of the lake bottom of America

The body of a 144-year-old sail ship was found by two divers on the bottom of Lake Ontario in New York, USA.

Two explorers Jim Kennard and Roger Pawlowski claimed to find the body of a sail ship named Black Duck on November 26 on ShipwreckWorld.com. The group of divers identified the source of the ship three years after they discovered the wreck position by sound waves sweeping at a depth of 107m below the surface of Lake Ontario.

The ship was 15m long in a strong wind while carrying cargo along the eastern part of the lake in August 1872. The husband and wife and a sailor were fortunate to have a fever by climbing a small boat and rushing ashore 8 hours later.

According to Kennard, maritime records show that there are only more than a dozen sailboats built in the area. The Black Duck Vessel is said to be the only one-sail ship intact in the Five Lakes region. "This is clearly a rare discovery , " said Carrie Sowden, archaeological director at the National Lakes Museum in Toledo, Ohio.

The ship has a simple design with a flat nose and a flat bottom, allowing the ship to run up to the beach to load and unload."A sail is not used to move quickly under water, but to carry lots of goods , " Kennard said. Often operating on rivers or for short trips in the Ngu Ho area, the structure of a sail cannot support strong winds and strong waves in offshore waters.
