The smallest baby in the world miraculously survives even though it is about the size of an ... apple

Saybie was born in San Diego weighing only 245 grams, about the size of a large apple, according to Sharp Mary Birch Women's Hospital & Infant, the baby hospital was born. Saybie is the smallest child born in the world recorded.

Currently, 5 months after birth, Saybie - nickname given to babies by nurses, still miraculously healthy and finally allowed to leave the hospital, weighing 2.5kg. Her real name is still hidden by her family so she can grow up to have a normal life.

The record of a tiny newborn baby surviving miraculously is newly established.

Saybie was born by surgery when only 23 weeks 3 days old, after her mother experienced serious pregnancy complications.

"It was the most frightening day of my life. My blood pressure was very, very high. They said they had to give birth very quickly ," Saybie's mother said in the video published by the hospital.

The family was told that they would probably only have 1 hour with the girl before the baby could not survive. But the miracle happened, Saybie still survived unbelievably.

Saybie's birth weight was 7 grams lower than the previous "youngest" record holder, a baby born in Germany in 2015. In February 2019, doctors reported born of the youngest boy alive, weighs 268 grams at birth.

Saybie has experienced almost all medical challenges associated with risk risks for people born before 28 weeks, which may include brain bleeding and lung and heart problems, the hospital said.

"We do everything we know, the best way to do it, and then really depend on the baby's own survival instincts , " Spring Bridges, a nurse at the intensive care room for children. The newborn of Sharp Mary Birch (NICU), said.
