The full moon in January or 'Tet Nguyen Tieu' is a big holiday in the customs of Vietnamese and Chinese people. But few people know that the origin of this new year comes from the filial piety of a female Han Dynasty in China.

The old people have the saying: "We don't have a full moon in the whole year". Full moon in January is also called "Lunar New Year" , meaning the first full moon of the new year. "Raw" is the first, "pepper" is the night. The name Nguyen Tieu is also associated with the accumulation of the filial piety of Nguyen Tieu and the Eastern Han Dynasty of the Eastern Han Dynasty.

In the winter of the same year, snow fell for a few days, Dong Phuong Soc came to dwell in the garden, suddenly discovered that a profound teary-eyed woman was about to jump into the well. Dong Phuong Soc rushed to stop and asked clearly. It turns out, the lady named Nguyen Tieu , since she came to the palace, she has not met her relatives until now, every year when Spring comes again, she misses home, feels that she does not inform her parents, she should seek death. . In a moment, both the panic of Truong An city, people scrambled to beg and seek to eliminate the disaster. Dong Phuong Soc said:

"In the evening of the first full moon in January, the Fire God will send a red goddess to the mortal earth to examine. The goddess is the messenger of the will to burn the Chang'an city. I will copy the words given to everyone. , maybe that day came up with a solution ".

After saying that, throw a red business card on the ground and walk away. Everyone rushed to pick it up and bring it to the imperial palace to tell the Emperor. Han Wudang took a look, only to see above written:

"Truong An suffered from fire, fire cremated Emperor De, on the 15th day of the sky fire, blazing all night."

Vũ Đế frightened him and invited the Eastern Methodist to be ready to come. Dongfang pretended to think and said:

"I heard that Fire God loves to eat drifting cake, Nguyen Tieu in the palace is not the one who usually cooks for you."

"In the full moon in January, he told me that Nguyen Tieu made a floating cake, his majesty lit incense and offered it to the house in the capital city to make drifting cakes and offered fire gods all the time. lights, fireworks all over the city, fire was burning, like the whole city had fire, doing so could pass over God, in addition, inform the people outside the city on the night of the full moon in January to see the flower, to spend the disaster to rescue ".

Nguyen Tieu's parents also led her sister into the city. When they saw on the lamp hanging in the bow, the words "Nguyen Tieu" shouted loudly: "Nguyen Tieu! Nguyen Tieu!" The Raw Lady heard and eventually reunited with her family.

Just like that all through the night, the city of Truong An is naturally unscathed. Han Wudi was very happy to order the order from then on, every year to the full moon in January to make fire gods offering dumplings, the whole city hung fire lights. Because drifting cakes made by Mrs. Nguyen Tieu made very good, that day was called Nguyen Tieu Tet. Nguyen Tieu cake is very similar to Vietnamese banh drift, but the other way is: the bread is rolled and cut into pieces, then put into the vibrating sieve containing the glutinous rice flour, where the flour is glutinous. Go there until it turns into a round cake, about the size of a ping pong ball. Nguyen Tieu cake has become a beautiful culture in Chinese tradition, like the Vietnamese green cake.
