Today 11/10: The world celebrates the International Children's Day

From the call to ensure global girls enjoy the social progress and justice of the International Labor Organization, the United Nations has chosen October 11 every year as "International Children's Day. "(International Day of the Girl).

In the International Labor Organization's statistics, there are about 88 million child workers in the world are girls. They must work in an unsafe environment, receive low wages and be treated for gender inequality.

The theme "International Children's Day" in the first year of 2012 is: "Fighting child marriage" . Up to 30% of young women in developing countries get married when they are not yet 18, 14% of girls get married under the age of 15.

Investing in education for girls is not only true but also a smart job.

The Huffington Post newspaper reported by the World Bank reported that every 1 in 4 girls in the world is born in poverty, 66 million of girls worldwide are illiterate (UNESCO report), and the rate of children girls graduating from primary schools are 33% lower than boys.

In addition, 1 in 7 girls must get married when they are under 15 years of age, even many have to get married when they are 8 years old. This early marriage has caused great harm to girls, causing them to be mentally ill, affect their health, suffer domestic violence and sexual abuse.

The International Labor Organization (ILO) gave a staggering number: More than 17 million children have to do "sin" , accounting for 30% of the global workforce. And 83% of housework workers are women and girls. Girls do housework more than 12 hours / day, 7 days / week, from ironing clothes, washing, cooking, taking care of children . They cannot go to school, even being turned into sex slaves .

An International Day for girls is not enough, but there is a lot of work to do to ensure all girls receive the same educational opportunities, and each must have the right to believe I am part of a generation of world-changing people, according to the Huffington Post.
