Scientists have discovered fossil footprints from about 247 to 248 million years ago in the Pyreness mountain range in Spain, which they claim is a previously unknown reptile.

In a statement, researchers at the University of Barcelona and the Catalan Institute of Biological Studies said fossil footprints were found along with a series of fossil tracks from crocodile ancestors and terror. long, belonging to Archosauromorpha, which dominates the area of ​​ancient Pyrenees.

Scientists have named this new reptile Prorotodactylus mesaxonichnus. They believe that this reptile is shaped like a crocodile but its legs are larger and its body is about 1.5m long.

According to the researchers, the fossil footprints they found in the Pyreness Mountains belong to ancient animals that move with all four limbs and often leave their tail marks. The team is continuing to look for fossil bone samples from these animals.
