Turn cars into gas ... drinking water

US scientists have tested the engine turning the engine's exhaust gases into drinking water. If successful, the technology would help soldiers get enough water for at least three days without supply.

Water condensed from exhaust gas (black) turns into transparent color after filtration.

At $ 2 million, Hamilton Sundstrand and Lex Carb have built the device.

The prototype, weighing 250 kg, was installed for two Humvees to test in Maryland.

The device consists of a converter, which oxidizes organic organic compounds that the engine does not burn. When passing through this adapter, the exhaust fumes become cleaner.

Next, thanks to the heat exchanger, exhaust fumes are cooled down to allow condensation to form. After being pumped through an activated carbon filter and ion exchange, the water turns from black to transparent.

Finally, a solution of chlorine is added to the water to kill the bacteria and fungus before the water is directed to a 27-liter container in the back of the car. The tank had hoses for soldiers to take water directly from there. In addition, there is a pipeline from the vase into the cabin.

Through sensor chips, water quality is always monitored. Therefore, it is safe to say that drinking water is safe.
