Unique stealth fish species

Researchers from the University of Texas at Austin, Texes (USA) have published a new study showing that some fish may suddenly disappear because their subcutaneous (also called platelets) cells have microscopic structure, helps reflect polarized light to be able to 'disappear' in front of the enemy's eyes.

Sea animals can see each other thanks to polarized light. If an animal can reflect on that polarized light, then it means that they are 'invisible'. Studying the fish's ability to reflect polarized light will help people invent 'invisible' objects in the future.

When pursued by predators, they are able to reflect 45-degree deflection light, from head to tail, making pursuers unable to see the light in a straight line but looking out to another direction and forgetting those ' invisibility' .

Scientists believe that fish lookdown and bigeye tuna have platelet systems that subdivided structures that help them disperse polarized light at different levels, depending on the angle of light.

Lookdown Fish

Fish Lookdown can change the color of each body part to match the environment.

In the experiment, Fish Lookdown was put into an experimental tank, outside the projecting light simulated the sun. At each different time, Fish Lookdown will absorb different light to have different colors. When in danger, they will reflect the light completely.

Bigeye tuna also has the ability to 'stealth'.

A species that appears much in everyday life, however, few people know that bigeye tuna is also capable of disappearing before human eyes. The mechanism of disappearing of bigeye tuna is similar to that of Lookdown fish, using platelets that have reflected sudden light makes the enemy surprised.

Pirate perch

Pirate perch disguises nicely by hiding people, hiding smells.

Unlike using platelets in the body to disappear, pirate perch uses chemicals in their bodies to hide their shape and scent. Normally, pirate perch will be 'invisible' when hunting. Pirate perch often eat frog eggs. However, when the baby was born, the frog was very alert. Therefore, the pirate perch will disguise the breath, its shape to attack at any time.
