The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said 116 people infected with 12 of them were hospitalized, none of them died.

The most common symptom in patients is diarrhea, abdominal pain and fever within 72 hours after eating contaminated food. Severe cases can be fatal. Salmonella is especially for babies, the elderly, pregnant women and people with a weak immune system.

FDA recommends that people be cautious about eating raw seafood, understand the source and eat only when there is no doubt.
