The symbol will help promote Vietnam's agricultural products. Korea will support Vietnam to build a logo.

On February 23 in Hanoi, the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam worked with an expert delegation of the Korea Patent Promotion Association (KIPA) within the framework of the project " Building symbol of national geographical indications". .

At the meeting, the leader of the National Office of Intellectual Property proposed KIPA to support the construction of a national geographical indication symbol to help consumers identify the origin of products bearing geographical indications, as a means of support. managers in the management, monitoring and traceability of products. This is also a tool to promote and commercialize products with geographical indications of Vietnam in the international market.

There are currently 63 Vietnamese products protected by geographical indications. In order to enhance coordination in this work, on August 8, 2018, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Industry and Trade signed a Regulation on coordination on construction and management only. geographical guide.

However, the number of geographical indications of Vietnam is still small, especially there is no national geographical indication symbol."These are issues that Vietnam needs to address to ensure the role of geographical indications, promoting the development of Vietnam's agricultural products, helping these products to be exploited and promoted on both the US, EU, Japan and South Korea markets " , said Dinh Huu Phi, Director of Intellectual Property Department.
