Vietnam launched Micro Dragon satellite at the end of 2018

Micro Dragon satellites have been successfully built, waiting for Japanese authorities to issue safety licenses to prepare to launch into space later this year.

Micro Dragon is Earth observation satellite , weighing 50kg, size 50 x 50 x 50cm. After launching into space, Micro Dragon has the task of observing coastal waters to assess water quality, locate aquatic resources, monitor changes in occurrences in coastal waters to serve Vietnam aquaculture industry. At the same time, detection of cloud cover, aerosol properties to serve for atmospheric correction. Micro Dragon satellite will also receive sensor signals on the ground and then transfer these data quickly to remote locations on Earth.

Micro Dragon was built by 36 Vietnamese engineers, belonging to the Vietnam Space Center, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology. This is a team of engineers who study space technology in Japan. Starting to build in 2013, 2017, Micro Dragon completed and successfully tested.

'Japan authorities are considering to issue a safe license for Micro Dragon satellite. After being licensed, the Epsilon (Japan) missile manufactured by IHI Aerospace will bring Vietnam's Micro Dragon satellite to orbit, 'said Associate Prof. Dr. Pham Anh Tuan, General Director of Vietnam Space Center. Micro Dragon is the next step in the process of gradually grasping and mastering Vietnam's satellite design and manufacturing technology. Previously, engineers of the Vietnam Space Center had successfully fabricated (10 x 10 x 11.35cm in size, 1kg in weight). The satellite was launched into orbit in November 2013 and successfully operated in space. After Micro Dragon, according to the roadmap, Vietnam will proceed to manufacture LOTUSat-1 and LOTUSat-2 satellites, two satellites according to advanced radar technology with a volume of about 600kg, nearly 12 times Micro Dragon, the size is 1 , 5m x 1,5m x 3m, exists on the universe for 5 years.
