Whale corpses swell like a giant ball in the sea

Fishermen were amazed to find the giant spherical object floating off the coast of Western Australia.

According to Mirror, Mark Watkins, 36, saw the strange scene of fishing with his father, 25 miles from Bunbury, south of Perth, Australia, on July 27. At first, Watkins said it was a boat or a gas-laden airship, West Australian reported.

As they approached, the father and son discovered that the object was the bulging corpse of a whale."The stomach is full of gas to the point of swelling. When we look closer, we realize it's a whale dying from the smell coming out," Watkins said.

Photos taken by Watkins show that the dead whale's carcass is at the time of preparation. Its skin is so tight that it looks pink. Fishermen said they never saw anything like that.

According to Watkins, there is a 4m-long white shark swimming around his boat that day. When the father and son turned to the shore, they saw parts of the whale carcass being bitten by the shark and the corpse was no longer bulging.

Southern head whales and humpback whales are popular in southwest Australia and migrate in large numbers. Humpback whales often appear in the area from June to August every year.
